General Practitioner – Hienghène (New Caledonia)

About the role

The Province Nord is seeking a qualified General Practitioner to ensure continuous health care services at its medical‑social centre in Hienghène. The position reports to the Deputy Director of Health, Social Affairs, Prevention and Solidarity and involves both curative and preventive medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Provide curative care: consultations, emergency visits, and tribal outreach.
• Deliver preventive services: school health, maternal‑child health, tuberculosis screening, occupational and sports medicine, health education, and public hygiene.
• Manage administrative duties: personnel and material resources, reporting, and health‑social monitoring.
• Maintain on‑call (astreinte) duties and support neighboring centres when needed.
• Develop external partnerships and oversee the centre’s pharmacy.
• Participate in civil‑security training and produce an annual activity report.

Required profile

• Medical degree with a focus on general practice and emergency care (CAMU preferred).
• Knowledge of public health; additional expertise in gynecology‑obstetrics, pediatrics, cardiology, endocrinology or infectiology is a plus.
• Valid category B driver’s licence.
• Experience working in isolated settings and with Oceanian populations is valued.
• Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, listening ability, and teamwork orientation.
