Deputy Director – Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme

About the role

The Pacific Community (SPC) is seeking a Deputy Director to lead its Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme (CFAP). This senior position provides strategic direction, leadership and technical oversight across fisheries livelihoods, science and aquaculture activities, ensuring alignment with SPC’s business and strategic plans.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and management for CFAP, coordinating with FAME division heads and member inputs.
• Oversee annual work‑plan development, implementation, budgeting and compliance with SPC policies.
• Authorize travel, procurement and manage donor reporting for all programme projects.
• Lead resource mobilisation, donor liaison and ensure sustainable funding for current and future activities.
• Supervise recruitment, performance planning and staff management for direct and indirect reports.
• Represent SPC in regional and sub‑regional forums, delivering high‑quality scientific and technical advice on coastal fisheries and aquaculture.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in fisheries, aquaculture or marine resource management.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic work plans and manage multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong experience in donor engagement, resource mobilisation and financial oversight.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse Pacific Island stakeholders.
