Legal Counsel – International Development Organization

About the role

The Pacific Community (SPC) is the principal scientific and technical organization supporting development across the Pacific since 1947. Owned by 27 member countries and territories, SPC works in more than 25 sectors, including fisheries science, public health surveillance, geoscience and conservation of plant genetic resources. The Legal Counsel will join the Legal and Governance Team, providing governance, legal and risk‑management support to ensure the organization’s operations are compliant and effective.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the integrity of SPC’s governance framework.
• Provide legal and risk‑management advice to internal stakeholders.
• Support the development and improvement of policies, systems and procedures.
• Assist in ensuring operational compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
