About the role
The Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) Adviser will provide specialised technical advice and coordination to embed gender equality and social inclusion across cross‑sectoral climate change projects and programmes within SPC.
Key responsibilities
- Provide contextually relevant technical advice to integrate GESI throughout the Climate Change Flagship, supporting all project phases from concept to reporting.
- Quality‑assure gender assessments, GESI analyses, action plans and social safeguards, ensuring alignment with SPC’s Social and Environmental Responsibility policy.
- Assess GESI capability needs, design and deliver learning initiatives, and develop practical tools, templates and checklists for staff and partners.
- Facilitate coordination among Climate Change teams, technical divisions and institutional GESI mechanisms, and maintain relationships with Pacific Island governments, civil society and development partners.
Required profile
- Post‑graduate qualification in gender and social science or related field.
- At least 8 years of progressive experience mainstreaming GESI in development programming, including climate change and environmental governance.
- Proven experience in capacity building for diverse government and non‑government audiences.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
Required skills
- Technical expertise in gender assessments and GESI integration.
- Ability to develop user‑friendly guidance materials and training resources.
What we offer
- Band 10 salary range SDR 3,727‑4,562 per month (approx. USD 4,994‑6,114).
- Housing support in Noumea, relocation grant, health, life and disability insurance, education allowances and 25 days annual leave.
- Contribution to SPC Provident Fund (8 % employee, 10 % employer).
